Reader’s Question:
What’s the secret to getting low car insurance quotes? I am really interested in changing my carrier here in New Jersey because of pricing.

In these economically troubled times, I wouldn’t blame anyone like you for wanting to get a more affordable car insurance policy. And there are certainly ways of getting them! But before we go there, have you already tried to talk to your carrier about this? Many companies today would rather keep existing customers, than spend money attracting new ones, so you may be able to leverage customer loyalty for lower rates, or at least discounts. If you didn’t get lucky with your carrier there in New Jersey by doing that, consider the following instead:
1.The Internet is a great way to look for cheap car insurance quotes. Start by running free quote checks on this website to help you find, and compare, the cheapest car insurance quotes.
2.You have the option to increase the deductible under your policy to make premiums smaller.
3.Review your policy and look for redundant coverage. PIP or MedPay, for example, may no longer be needed if you have medical insurance to cover you in case of an accident.
4.Look for discounts that you may be eligible for such as employee discounts, low mileage discounts and senior citizen discounts.
5.Take defensive driving lessons that will educate you to become safer drivers, as well as qualify you for additional discounts on your policy.
6.You can also install additional safety and security mechanisms that would reduce your risk of getting injured in an accident, or the car being stolen, and help make premiums lower.
7.If you have teenage drivers, you can qualify for good student discounts if they maintain an average grade of B or higher in school.
